Tolerability of MICARDIS®
MICARDIS® shares the excellent safety profile of the ARB class with placebo-like tolerability.1 A meta-analysis of data from more than 7,000 patients found that the incidence of treatment-related adverse events per patient per treatment year was lower with MICARDIS® than with placebo.2
Adverse events are generally mild and transient, and are not related to dosage, gender, age or race. The incidence of adverse events is similar in younger (<65 years) and elderly (≥65 years) patients.2
The incidence of dry, persistent cough is similar to that of placebo, and is substantially less than with the ACE inhibitors enalapril and lisinopril.3,4
