The World Health Organization cites cardiovascular disease (CVD) as being the most common cause of death in the World.1,2 In 2005, the WHO states that 17.5 million people died from CVD, representing about 30% of all deaths globally. Of these deaths, 7.6 millions were due to coronary heart disease and a further 5.7 million due to stroke.
